Every week, a new JavaScript framework drops. Twitter (X) erupts into debates about Vue vs. React, Next vs. Nuxt, or Tailwind vs. CSS-in-JS. As developers, we get easily caught up in the "Shiny Object Syndrome."
A poorly architected app in the best framework is still a nightmare to maintain. A well-architected app in a mediocre framework will scale for years without breaking down.
"Good architecture allows you to defer major decisions. Frameworks are a detail, not the core of your application." — Uncle Bob Martin
Separation of Concerns
True system architecture is about drawing boundaries. The database shouldn't care about the UI. The business logic shouldn't care if the request came from an HTTP API or a WebSocket worker.
The 3-Layer Rule:
- Presentation Layer: Your React components or API Controllers. They only care about taking input and displaying output.
- Domain / Business Layer: The heart of your application. This is where business rules live with ZERO framework dependencies.
- Data / Infrastructure Layer: Handles database queries, third-party API calls, and caching.
Focus on foundational engineering concepts: Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and clean architecture. Frameworks come and go, but good engineering practices are timeless.
